Chapter One:
Research Context, Interdisciplinary Methodology, Fieldwork Objectives
Building on a recent reassessment of Stanislavsky by feminist theatre scholars and neuroscientists, I discuss the Stanislavsky-Grotowski lineage and extend such a reassessment to Grotowski's legacy.
I then outline a project which consists in meeting the women who worked with Grotowski to find out what is relevant and valuable to them in his approach to performance and how they have developed their own perspectives.
I situate my embodied research at the intersection of Performance Studies, Cultural Anthropology, and Indigenous epistemologies to develop an interdisciplinary methodology that requires building relationships based on trust, respect, and reciprocity.
