Chapter Two:

Practice: Mapping out Interconnections

In order to provide a point of entry into the work of Grotowski's women collaborators, I introduce the principles which I consider to be key to the Stanislavsky-Grotowski lineage: impulses, organicity, and associations.

I then address my meetings with six first-generation women, investigate their very diverse journeys, and  discuss my experience of their teaching.

These meetings constitute my embodied fieldwork through which I derive an experiential understanding of the principles I have outlined, which enables me to map out the interconnections between these women’s distinctive practices.
